Action packed weekend, and frankly I’m relieved to take a break from Java.

I’m going to regret this.

Making an appointment to see a specialist today. I’m going to hate myself when they take my money and can’t find the cause of my symptoms, again. I have less respect for doctors with every interaction.

Paralyzingly nice weather today. Deep sighs abound.

The beauty of recursion.

Computer scientists may seem bland and dry, but there is an area which makes them wax poetic. The elegance of recursion is a deep theme in our culture. Recursive functions, quines, compilers written in the language they compile. I believe it is safe to say that we are still quite fascinated in these ideas, and programs which utilize them often garner the words ‘elegant’, ‘slick’, ‘creative’.

Flapi was like that, employing some of the principals of self-hosting in order to bootstrap itself. I remember when I first let it generate its builder classes from the previously generated classes I had the eerie sensation of watching a reproductive cycle complete.

Strange loops. Intelligence which grows by consuming its own results. If that isn’t romantic, then I don’t know what is.
