Late night brainstorm = 12 new JIRA stories to deal with. If only there were more time. Or more demand. I would forsake my rest if there were sufficient demand.

I’ve been in such a foul mood these last few weeks. Devoid of health, music, patience, inspiration. It’s good to hit upon a track here and there that makes me feel like I’m not totally lost.

It’s good to know that if there ever were a track-level emergency at North & Clybourn, it would only take 24 minutes to get from the train to the station exit.

I would say that the only downside to a three day weekend which spans a Monday is that Tuesday, a perfectly good day of the week, now has to bear the burden of a Monday. Perhaps doubly so.

Redis and Ruby and Rails, oh my!
Action packed weekend, and frankly I’m relieved to take a break from Java.

I'm going to regret this.
Making an appointment to see a specialist today. I’m going to hate myself when they take my money and can’t find the cause of my symptoms, again. I have less respect for doctors with every interaction.

The beauty of recursion.
Computer scientists may seem bland and dry, but there is an area which makes them wax poetic. The elegance of recursion is a deep theme in our culture. Recursive functions, quines, compilers written in the language they compile. I believe it is safe to say that we are still quite fascinated in these ideas, and programs which utilize them often garner the words ‘elegant’,...

More and more on these sleepless nights I’m finding that what I really need is for someone to grab me by the shoulders and tell me that it’s going to be alright.

Tumblr Likes Grid now on GitHub
The code for the Tumblr Likes Grid is now available on GitHub. Hopefully this will help improve the overall experience, as well as share some knowledge about how to interact with Tumblr’s API. Be sure to read the original blog post for the background of the project if you have not already. Please feel free to use the integrated GitHub issue tracker to report any problems. I know that some...

Birds in the city are like stars in the sky. They exist, but are obscured from the senses. You can only hear them at 5am on a Sunday morning, when everyone is sleeping in.

We’re paying for that mild winter with a cold summer, I bet. Almost June and highs are still in the 50’s, lows still in the 40’s. Chicago, please warm up soon…

IT IS DONE.
I’m finally done. Throw on some licenses and write up the documentation and blog post, and you’ll all be experiencing Flapi v0.1 sometime tomorrow evening. Shout out to my boy Collin for inspiring me to finally finish something.

Star Trek and the Art of the Hack
The thing I love the most about the Star Trek universe is that everything is hackable. Encountered a planet-wide forcefield? Modulate the deflector array to produce a subspace frequency matching the harmonic resonance of the field. In need of a weapon? Just modify Geordi’s VISOR to produce a supersonic pulse which will overload the enemy’s auditory pathways, rendering them unconscious....

Oh man, so excited. I squashed a big bug I was dealing with. The last big bug that I’ve found. Now more testing and cleanup, and then I can release this beta. I’ve had people here for over a week, and now finally I can get back to work. More to come. Stick around.
